July 15th

I was called in at 1:30am. Linda has deteriorated again. Her blood oxygen levels were down and the doctors were with her when her heart stopped. They revived her and had to put in a breathing tube. The heart is beating unassisted but her breathing is being done by tube.

I got to hold her before they took her to ICU. They are getting her stabilised and then they will do a CT scan to see if the brain bleed has worsened.

It is so hard to see your life partner suffering so much. She is unaware of her situation and is really unconscious.

So glad that her boys saw her so well in late June

Seems so long ago but it was only 3 weeks.

Updates during the day

7am

Got into ICU to see Linda. Scarey place to visit. Under sedation but lovely seeing her.

1:00pm - ring from ICU

CT results show no clot in heart or lungs. Slight increase in brain bleed but not really enough to cause heart to stop. It would explain the loss of speech and mental capacity.

They are keeping her under sedation in ICU for 72 hours and then will try and wake her. This will be a critical time.

She is on dialicis for the kidneys that are acting up.

The ICU team are amazing and so gentle and caring. So are all the staff on the wards. I got to really appreciate their dedication and care. Not a profession I'd choose. Computers don't talk back and have little feeling, that's the job for me.

This is the final update for today unless something pops up.

In times of trouble (which this is) He is my fortress.

“But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭59:16‬
