We were called in at lunchtime today. After some optimism in the morning, Linda’s organs began to fail. They tried one final attempt to get the blood to stabilise but it wasn’t effective. Linda’s body just couldn’t take anymore.
Linda was kept free of pain and was really in a coma. All the family were able see Linda one last time. We said our goodbyes.
Myself and Jason and Matt sat with her as her heart slowed and stopped. She was at peace.
Is this the final chapter or is the first chapter of her next adventure. An adventure which will last forever. Linda knew and loved her Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. That changes everything. Instead of death being the end, death is only the beginning. We move from life to a new life with Christ in eternal glory. My heart is broken but death is not the winner.
“When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory.’ ‘Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:54-57
What a passage.
My life partner has left me for a better home. She was my other half, my lover, my wife, my soul mate, my half orange, my adventurer, my best friend. She brought sensible reason to my crazy ideas and I brought my logic to her mad and “way-out-there” plans.
I’m not sure how I can exist without her.
I’m now going to cry as the pain creeps in.
Signing off for the last time.
RIP
Linda Ann Barrington
