Woke to rain at 5. Not heavy so packed up but then looked around for 30 mins in town for water. The first 17km today has no water or stops. I dislike the Romans. They built a road as straight as could be. They say it took 100,000 tonnes of rock fill was moved from local hills to make the road high enough to be out of the surrounding marsh that is now harvest fields. (Probable the local slaves) The issue is you see how far you have to go. Also the little black flies attacked us as we walked. Not a road I want to do again.
